Already licensed in another state?

South Carolina waives the technical exam for licensees in good standing from the state where they originally examined: Alabama, Georgia (unrestricted), Mississippi, North Carolina (L/I/U), Tennessee, Ohio, Reading PA and Utah (licensed before May 2017). The waiver form goes board to board, and licenses obtained by grandfathering or another state's reciprocity don't qualify. It also accepts a current Master Electrician certification earned by exam: one issued by MASC between December 1990 and December 2025, or by Carolinas AGC (CAGC), which took over the program on January 1, 2026. MASC holders get their verification letter from CAGC. The Business Management & Law exam is never waived. Note that the Georgia pair is now one-way: SC accepts Georgia licensees, but Georgia no longer accepts anyone.
